Thinking Out Loud
Healthy Food Project Lots of minds are busy at work trying to find solutions to food access across the US. It’s always interesting to see what students are doing. Check out this collaboration between RISD (Rhode Island School of Design) and Brown students that resulted in products and events to help teenagers gather the tools necessary to change their eating habits based on what is available in their environment.
They echo our sentiment that if you make food –or in our case, the health food/corner store– more fun, it will encourage more people to make that their first stop when they get hungry. It’s not such a crazy thought. Food = Fun. McDonald’s has been using this tactic for years. When was the last time you walked into a corner store or a health food store and walked out with a toy in your child’s food? We don’t give out toys here at Boxcar Grocer but we do create an environment that makes you want to hang out and chill.
